Tap the touch zone next to the LED ring on the RELX Infinity 2 and the device steps through three fixed wattages instead of firing at one setting like most closed-pod pens. Eco runs at 5.5W with a green light, Smooth sits at 6.5W with blue, and Boost hits 8W with purple, so you can tell which mode is active without checking a manual.

Eco keeps the draw light and the vapour volume modest, which is the setting most people leave running through a normal day. Smooth is the calibrated middle ground a standard RELX pod is tuned for, with a steadier throat hit and fuller flavour. Boost pushes harder for a noticeably warmer, thicker draw and roughly 15% more flavour intensity, though it also asks more of the battery than the other two modes.

Switching modes changes how hard the coil fires against whichever pod is loaded, not the pod's own flavour profile - Eco, Smooth and Boost are the same pod at three different outputs.

The Infinity 2 comes in seven finishes: Obsidian Black, Dark Asteroid, Royal Indigo, Blue Bay, Green Navy, Cherry Blossom and Pearl Glitter. The chassis itself is aluminium alloy with a satin metallic coat rather than painted plastic, so it holds up better to daily pocket wear, and the airflow inlets sit flush on both sides of the body instead of as raised vents that catch on lint.

Who reaches for the Infinity 2

This suits anyone who already knows a fixed-output pen doesn't cover a whole day on its own - dialling down to Eco at a desk and up to Boost later on covers both ends without needing a second device. The fast Type-C charging also fits people who forget to charge overnight, since 15 minutes on the cable gets it back to 80% during a commute or a coffee break rather than needing a full downtime window.

Most closed-pod devices, including earlier RELX pens, fire at one wattage set at the factory, so changing intensity means changing pods or brands altogether. The Infinity 2 keeps that as a fallback - drop in an original RELX Pod or RELX Pod Pro and it locks to Smooth mode only - but adds the option to move within a single pod when a RELX Pod Pro 2 is loaded instead, so there's no need to stock multiple pods just to get a lighter or heavier draw.

Loading a pod and switching modes

Push a pod into the magnetic housing and a short vibration confirms it's seated - variable power only activates with a RELX Pod Pro 2 in place. From there, tap the touch zone near the LED to step through Eco, Smooth and Boost, then draw on the mouthpiece as normal; the device fires from an air-pressure sensor rather than a separate button. Refillable third-party pods that fit the same chamber carry the three-mode control over as well, so it isn't limited to prefilled RELX cartridges if you'd rather load your own nicotine salt e-liquid.

The 440 mAh cell is small by design, which is part of why the chassis stays pocket-thin, and running Boost mode for most of a day will drain it faster than leaving it on Eco or Smooth. In practice that usually means one extra top-up rather than an all-day charge, and since the Type-C charging reaches 80% in 15 minutes, it's a quick stop rather than a real inconvenience - but anyone expecting a single overnight charge to cover heavy Boost use across a full day should plan for that midday top-up.
