IQOS TEREA Bright Menthol Japan Sticks

What TEREA Bright Menthol Japan tastes like

Citrus is what leads the first draw here, and the menthol reads more as a background temperature than as a flavour of its own. Set against the other menthol sticks we keep on the shelf, Bright Menthol sits at the low end for cooling: put it beside the Italy-market Turquoise Menthol we stock and the tobacco has moved well back, and the chill is shorter-lived than most menthol smokers expect from a stick with menthol in the name.

The green-fruit note the pack describes shows up more through the middle of the stick than at the start, and it reads dry rather than sweet. Where the stick earns its shelf space for us is the last third: the citrus is still there on the final draws instead of thinning out, which is not true of every fruit-led stick we have sold.

Across a full box the profile holds steady, which matters more when you are committing to 200 sticks than when you are trying a single pack. Each stick runs to roughly 14 puffs, so a session is short. Our own verdict, after keeping this alongside the rest of the Japan-market shelf: it is the box we point people to when they tell us their current menthol is too cold and the tobacco stick they tried was too heavy, and it is the wrong box if you actually wanted either of those things.

Who Bright Menthol suits, and who should skip it

Bright Menthol works best for adult smokers who already use menthol and want the cooling softened by fruit. If you rotate two or three flavours through the day, it tends to land in the morning or straight after a meal, where a lighter, brighter stick sits better than a heavy roasted tobacco one.

It is a poor match if you want tobacco depth. There is a tobacco base here, but it sits well behind the menthol and the citrus, so anyone coming off a full-flavour cigarette is likely to read it as thin. It is also not the stick for an aggressive ice hit, because the cooling here is deliberately moderate.

Nicotine is 0.5 mg per stick, so a lighter taste does not mean a lighter product. Nicotine is addictive, and these sticks are intended for adults who already smoke or use nicotine, not for anyone who does not. We make no health claims about them of any kind.

• Suits: menthol smokers who want the fruit to lead and the cooling to sit behind it
• Suits: ILUMA owners who rotate flavours and want a lighter stick for mornings and after meals
• Less suited to: anyone who wants real tobacco weight in the draw, or a hard, icy menthol hit

How Bright Menthol compares with the other TEREA sticks we keep

We keep several TEREA sticks on the shelf at the same time, and customers asking about Bright Menthol are usually deciding between three or four of them. The notes below are our own, and they describe the specific market variants we stock rather than every version of these flavours in circulation, so the market is labelled on each one.

None of these is a straight upgrade on the others. If the Italy-market Turquoise Menthol has read as too tobacco-forward for you, Bright Menthol is a sensible step across. If Bright Menthol reads as too gentle, message us and ask what is on the shelf that week rather than assuming a different fruit note will be colder, because changing the fruit does not change the temperature.

• TEREA Bright Menthol Japan - the fruit-led, lower-intensity option, with the citrus ahead of the cooling
• TEREA Turquoise Menthol, the Italy-market stick we keep - toasted tobacco first with the menthol behind it, for anyone who wants tobacco weight
• TEREA Purple Wave Menthol, also Italy-market - blueberry sweetness over a menthol finish, a different fruit direction rather than more cooling
• TEREA Yellow Italy (the plain one, not TEREA Yellow Menthol) - mellow tobacco with a zesty edge and no cooling at all, if it is the citrus you want and not the chill

Device compatibility and storing a box in UAE heat

TEREA sticks are induction-heated and work only in IQOS ILUMA devices and the IQOS ILUMA i range (i One, i Prime and i Standard). They will not work in an IQOS 3 DUO or a lil SOLID, since those heat with a blade and take HEETS instead. No adapter exists, so confirm your device model before ordering a box.

Storage is the part most people underestimate here. A box left in a parked car through a Dubai August takes far more heat than sealed packs are meant to sit in, while the same box kept indoors at room temperature and out of direct sun holds up better. Leave individual packs sealed until you are ready to open them.

If you are keeping a full box at home, put it somewhere with steady air conditioning rather than in a balcony cupboard or a garage, and take out one pack at a time. Menthol sticks in particular are worth keeping sealed and indoors rather than left open in heat and humidity.

• Keep unopened packs indoors, out of direct sun, and never leave a box in a parked car or a glovebox
• An air-conditioned cupboard is a better home for a full 200-stick box than a balcony store or a garage
• Open one pack at a time and leave the other nine sealed inside the outer box
• Our orders travel by rider rather than sitting in a postal depot, so a box is not baking somewhere before it reaches you
