What TEREA Purple Wave Tajikistan tastes like

Purple Wave reads as a fruit stick first. The berry is jammy rather than fresh-picked, and the leaf sits behind it instead of in front, so there is still tobacco weight underneath the sweetness. It is clearly sweeter than the tobacco-led sticks we stock, though it stops short of tasting like a boiled sweet.

The cooling arrives at the end of the draw rather than the start. It is mild, enough to tidy up the sweetness on the exhale but well short of what a dedicated menthol stick does. The fruit is loudest through the first third, and the cooling becomes easier to notice as the stick works down.

Each stick runs to up to 14 puffs, roughly six minutes, so the flavour does not have time to thin out before the session ends. In practice it reads as fresh in hot weather, which is a large part of why this one moves faster than our tobacco flavours through the UAE summer.

Who Purple Wave suits, and who should skip it

Purple Wave works for adult smokers who want something other than plain tobacco but do not want to commit to a full menthol stick. A common pattern among our regulars is a tobacco flavour in the morning and Purple Wave from the afternoon onwards, when a sweeter, cooler draw is more welcome.

It is the wrong pick if you want heated tobacco to taste close to a cigarette. The berry note is obvious rather than subtle, and people moving straight across from regular-strength cigarettes often find it too sweet for a full box. If cooling is what you are after above all, a straight menthol stick will do more.

How Purple Wave compares with the rest of the TEREA range

Most people who buy Purple Wave keep a tobacco flavour alongside it. Two hundred sticks of anything fruit-led is a lot to work through on its own, and palate fatigue sets in faster with sweet flavours than it does with a plain roasted stick, particularly if you smoke through the day.

Within the menthol side of the range, Purple Wave and Turquoise are the two that get cross-shopped most often. Turquoise puts tobacco first and cooling second. Purple Wave puts fruit first, cooling second and tobacco third. There is no way around trying both if you want to settle which suits you.

Device compatibility and keeping a box in UAE heat

These sticks are made for the IQOS ILUMA and ILUMA i family, covering i One, i Prime and i Standard, which heat the tobacco from a core inside the stick instead of a blade. They will not work in an IQOS 3 DUO or a lil SOLID, and no adapter changes that, so confirm your device before ordering 200 sticks.

Heat is the real enemy of a box in this country. Sticks left in a parked car or on a sunny windowsill dry out and lose flavour. Keep unopened packs indoors in air conditioning and out of direct sun, and leave the foil seal closed until you start a pack.

Storage is not demanding beyond that. The full box is compact at roughly 240 grams and 162 x 75 x 47 mm, so a drawer or cupboard shelf is enough. We would not put sticks in a fridge; the condensation when they come back out does the tobacco no favours.
